Springtime Cards

Here's what we did in my Monday Card Classes this month. I had not used Heartfelt Thanks in such a long time and I had so much fun creating this card for Easter. Of course, class participants always have the option of adding a different sentiment if they want to, so for some, this was a birthday or thank you card. The organdy ribbon was heated with a heat gun which makes is crimp up and look frilly. It's really easy to do, but you have to work fast as it's also easy to burn a hole right through the ribbon. We clipped one end of the ribbon onto a clipboard and held the other end loosely while heating it. It's kind of hard to see in the picture but in real life it's fabulous!

For this second card I reached for Friends 24-7, which I have been having a ball with. It's such a versatile stamp set and I haven't gotten my fill of it yet. You can be sure to see more samples from this set in the near future!

This card features the spotlighting technique. We used the Top Note Die for the celery & rose mats, just catching one end of each in the die. The ribbon is from Michael's and we did a "cheater" knot. To do that knot, simply tie a first knot (like when you tie your shoes), but before you pull the loop tight, slip it over a finger. Then while it's on your finger, tie another knot and pull it tight. Now slip it off
your finger and cut the loop in half. Wah-lah! You now have a perfect knot. Just wrap the long ends around your card and tape on the backside!
